Accountant- Mineral Exploration

About the Role

Turner Staffing Group is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accountant (Mid-Level) to support a client operating in the Canadian mineral exploration sector. This role will support Canadian entities while coordinating financial reporting to U.S.-based headquarters and joint venture (JV) partners.

The ideal candidate brings strong IFRS knowledge, experience with joint venture accounting, and the ability to operate effectively in a cross-border reporting environment. This position offers schedule flexibility while contributing to a dynamic and growing exploration portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes for Canadian entities

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS and provide reporting data for U.S. GAAP consolidation

  • Track and report exploration expenditures by project and JV partner

  • Prepare JV statements, cost-sharing reports, and cash call documentation

  • Monitor partner billings and joint venture funding requirements

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for exploration programs

  • Ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations (GST/PST and corporate tax) and support U.S. tax reporting requirements

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for U.S. headquarters and JV stakeholders

  • Liaise with external auditors during interim and year-end audit processes

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Professional Designation

  • CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA) preferred

Experience

  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within mining, mineral exploration, or natural resources

  • Experience with IFRS; exposure to U.S. GAAP and joint venture accounting considered an asset

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with accounting software systems (e.g., Greentree or similar ERP platforms)

  • Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities

Soft Skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities within a flexible schedule

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support cross-border coordination and JV partner interactions

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
