Job Overview:
Turner Staffing Group is seeking an experienced Mine Foreman to join our partner’s surface mining team in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience working in the mining industry with a diverse background in handling various materials. This role will oversee day-to-day mining operations, ensure adherence to safety and productivity standards, and lead a team of operators and support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage daily operations of the surface mine, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.
- Lead a team of equipment operators, technicians, and other site personnel, providing direction, support, and mentorship.
- Coordinate material extraction, processing, and transport to meet production targets and quality requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of the site and equipment, identifying maintenance needs and safety improvements.
- Implement and monitor adherence to safety protocols, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute operational strategies and goals.
- Maintain accurate records of production, equipment usage, and personnel activity.
- Address and resolve any operational challenges or emergencies, acting swiftly to minimize impact on production.
- Communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in training and onboarding new team members as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in the mining industry, with a focus on surface mining operations and materials handling.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or foreman role within a mining environment.
- Strong knowledge of surface mining techniques, equipment operation, and material processing.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a commitment to fostering a safe and productive work environment.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the mining industry.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and make timely, effective decisions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with mine management software is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in mining safety or mine foremanship.
- Experience working with diverse materials in a surface mining setting.
- Knowledge of MSHA regulations and compliance requirements.
