Quarry Superintendent

Position Overview

Turner Mining Group is seeking an experienced Quarry Manager to oversee daily site operations at an active quarry location. This individual will be responsible for managing personnel, ensuring safe and efficient production practices, maintaining equipment needs, and serving as the primary point of contact for our client’s onsite management team. The Quarry Manager plays a critical role in fostering a safety-first culture, optimizing performance, and supporting the successful execution of each project.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Supervise and support Foremen and crew on-site; maintain accountability for production performance and safety

  • Approve daily timecards and verify accuracy

  • Submit daily Field Work Orders (FWOs) for client approval

  • Submit and approve purchase requisitions through the accounting system

  • Execute and report survey results to the Project Manager

  • Compile billable quantities and FWOs each billing cycle for pay application processing

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with the client’s onsite representatives

  • Monitor and ensure safe, efficient operations that minimize equipment wear and maximize productivity

  • Host and escort all guests during site visits and inspections

  • Communicate site material, supply, and equipment needs with appropriate team members

Safety & Compliance

  • Foster and reinforce a proactive safety culture — promote “An Eye for Safety” initiative across the site

  • Ensure strict adherence to MSHA regulations and internal safety protocols

  • Conduct and document monthly safety meetings, workplace exams, and task training

  • Complete incident reports in HCSS Safety and lead root cause analyses (RCAs)

  • Maintain and organize all safety documentation in compliance with TMG policy

  • Address pre-operation issues and ensure timely corrective actions

Team & Personnel Management

  • Submit hiring and termination requests to HR following TMG procedures

  • Conduct interviews and onboarding for all onsite team members

  • Evaluate performance and complete employee reviews using TMG templates

  • Monitor and mentor Foremen to ensure effective leadership and execution

  • Document and communicate employee performance issues to HR and Project Manager

  • Maintain thorough understanding of the TMG Employee Handbook
