Mining Plant Electrician

The Plant Electrician oversees complex electrical troubleshooting, system upgrades, and control system support.  Ensures high reliability of plant electrical systems. May mentor junior electricians.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair high- and low-voltage systems, motor controls, and drives.
  • Install and maintain PLCs, VFDs, and control circuits.
  • Lead electrical projects and ensure code compliance.
  • Mentor Electrician I and II personnel and support cross-training.
  • Interface with automation, engineering, and maintenance teams.
  • Maintain technical documentation and update panel schematics.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 3-5 years of industrial or heavy manufacturing electrical experience.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex schematics and control diagrams.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
  • Licensed or certified as a journeyman electrician preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
  • High level of safety and quality.
  • Ability to multi-task at a fast-pace (at times), work in outside conditions during all seasons, climb multi-levels by stairs & ladders, work from elevated platforms, use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.).
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Knowledge – Preferred.
  • Forklift experience – Preferred.
  • Computer Software – Preferred.
  • Warehouse experience – Preferred.
