Position Overview

Turner Staffing Group is seeking a Rebuild Technician / Shop Mechanic to support high-volume component rebuild and repair operations. This role is ideal for a mechanically strong technician who thrives in a fast-paced shop environment and takes pride in precision rebuild work. The position focuses heavily on component teardown, inspection, rebuild, and testing, with a strong emphasis on reading schematics and working to tight tolerances.

This is a hands-on role supporting fleet and field operations by restoring critical components to service-ready condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rebuild and overhaul mechanical components including:

    • Hydraulic cylinders

    • Gearboxes and drivetrains

    • Cylinder heads and related assemblies

  • Disassemble, inspect, measure, and reassemble components to specification

  • Diagnose component failures and determine repair or rebuild requirements

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation

  • Perform precision work using hand tools, presses, measuring tools, and shop equipment

  • Identify wear patterns, failure causes, and recommend corrective actions

  • Test rebuilt components to verify proper function and performance

  • Maintain accurate rebuild documentation and work orders

  • Work efficiently in a production-oriented shop with multiple rebuilds in progress

  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area

  • Collaborate with shop leadership and peers to meet turnaround timelines

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on rebuild experience

  • Proven experience rebuilding hydraulic cylinders, heads, gearboxes, or similar components

  • Strong ability to read and work from schematics and technical drawings

  • Experience working in fast-paced shop or production rebuild environments

  • Familiarity with tight tolerances, measurements, and quality control standards

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures and identify root causes

  • Experience using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)

  • Welding or fabrication experience is a plus but not required
