Regional Training Coordinator

Role Summary

The Regional Training Coordinator supports safe, consistent, and effective Drill & Blast execution across multiple mine sites by coordinating, delivering, and continuously improving field-based training and competency programs. This position partners closely with Drill & Blast leadership, site operations, and safety to ensure personnel are trained, assessed, and documented in accordance with site standards and applicable regulations (including MSHA training requirements where applicable).

Key Responsibilities

Training program coordination & delivery

  • Coordinate and support site training programs for Drill & Blast teams (drillers, blasters/shot crew, powder/initiating systems handling where applicable, and adjacent support roles).
  • Schedule and deliver training events across multiple sites (new hire onboarding, refresher training, task training, and operational “best practice” sessions).
  • Translate field procedures and technical requirements into practical training materials and job aids (tailgate content, checklists, step-by-step work instructions).

Competency verification (field-based)

  • Conduct and/or coordinate competency assessments and on-the-job evaluations for drill rig operators and blast/shot crews; document results and close gaps with targeted coaching plans.
  • Partner with site leaders to standardize skills expectations across sites and identify trends in performance, safety observations, and training needs.
  • Compliance, documentation, and training records
  • Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and skills matrices; ensure documentation is audit-ready (MSHA training plan alignment/records where applicable).
  • Coordinate annual refresher / recurring training requirements and track completion across sites (e.g., annual refresher training minimums under Part 46/48 when applicable).
  • Support training plan updates and implementation workflows, including site-specific hazard awareness and new task training processes where required.

Continuous improvement

  • Evaluate training effectiveness using field observations, competency outcomes, incident/near-miss learnings, and feedback loops; iterate content and delivery methods accordingly.
  • Apply a structured training approach (e.g., ADDIE / systematic training methods) to build repeatable programs that scale across sites.
  • Cross-functional partnership
  • Coordinate with Operations, Safety/HSE, HR, and site leadership to ensure training content aligns with operational requirements and regulatory obligations.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for training logistics, rosters, and on-site execution during site visits.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in mining operations, field operations training, safety/training coordination, or Drill & Blast operations with a strong training/mentoring component.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in the field and communicate across all levels of a workforce (crew to leadership).
  • Strong organizational skills: scheduling, multi-site coordination, and documentation discipline.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; comfort learning/using an LMS or training record system (or equivalent tracking process).
  • Ability to travel frequently to multiple active mine sites and work effectively in remote field environments.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

  • Direct Drill & Blast experience (open pit/surface), including hands-on exposure to drill operations and blast execution standards.
  • Experience conducting formal competency assessments and skills verification in the field.
  • Familiarity with MSHA training frameworks (Part 46/48 applicability varies by mine type), including annual refresher expectations and recordkeeping discipline.
  • “Train-the-trainer” background or structured instructional design approach (ADDIE/SAT).
